Last spring, Barcelona assumed Ousmane Dembele would leave at the end of the season. Xavi Hernandez insisted on renewing the player, so Barcelona agreed to continue negotiating. Finally, an unexpected move occurred. The shows Sissoko claimed were gone, if they ever existed, so the mindset changed.
Barcelona demanded a significant salary cut, which was a non-negotiable condition due to the club’s situation. Dembele agreed, but asked in return for a short contract, until 2024, with a low escape clause, worth only 50 million euros, as L’Equipe newspaper explained weeks later. In this way, Dembele kept a finesse up his sleeve, being able to ask for a salary raise if he just blew up, or, why not, a multi-million dollar contract to another club.
And it is that Moussa Sissoko, as he explained in France, had two calls that could change everything. The first is from Paris Saint-Germain, who, after checking Dembele’s athletic growth, both in Barcelona and in the French national team, decided to go to him. In the summer, most likely, it will be without Messi and Neymar. Paris Saint-Germain must renew its offensive trident, to prove to Mbappe that the project is continuing, and Dembele, for 50 million euros, is a very tempting piece of candy.
Dembele has never hidden his desire to return to France, from which he left at a very young age for Borussia Dortmund. In addition, he can play alongside Mbappe, his great friend, and in a team of the highest caliber, to choose to win the Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain offers him a much higher contract than the one he has at Barcelona, because without Messi and Neymar his salary bill will be released significantly
