Uruguay’s Luis Suarez has sent a message of support to his colleague, Ronald Araujo, after the decision to undergo surgery to recover from his injury, and to rule out the idea of resorting to conservative treatment
Araujo had ruptured the adductor tendon in his right leg, during the Uruguay-Iran match.
Several reports claimed that undergoing surgery threatens to deprive Uruguay of the services of Araujo in the World Cup, and that the player preferred his club to his country
Suarez spoke to Araujo’s statement on Twitter explaining the reasons for his surgery, saying: “You are wonderful, Ronald. All our support to you. The most important thing is to recover well and come back stronger”
And Araujo wrote in his statement: “I want to explain the reasons that led me to make my decision to avoid speculation. I love my country and I love my choice to represent the national team”
He emphasized, “After consulting with several specialists, we decided that surgical intervention would be the best solution. It is not about choosing one team over the other, it is about being healthy and getting back to 100% as soon as possible”
He continued, “These are very difficult times for me on a personal level, and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support I receive”
“With faith and hard work, I will do my best to return as soon as possible,” he concluded
